SITRALON (PC) for black panel effect in PREH operating system
In cooperation with PREH, speciality compounder SITRAPLAS has developed the smoked glass type SITRALON (PC) 34E-UV for the control unit in the centre console of a premium segment SUV.
For the development of this HMI component, PREH's goal was not only maximum user-friendliness but also a high-quality, homogeneous design in black panel technology. The black panel effect - also known as the disappearance effect or secret-until-lit-function - makes display indications behind the front appear black when deactivated, so that they visually merge with the remaining part of the deep black panel.
Polycarbonate is particularly suitable for use in control elements due to its high impact strength and heat resistance. At the same time, the dark-coloured SITRALON (PC) allows optimum reproduction of the desired LED colour spectrum of the displays in the control element.
The tightly specified properties of SITRALON (PC) 34E-UV allow high transmission of the desired colours while guaranteeing high colour fastness without colour shifts.
SITRALON (PC) 34E-UV enables the implementation of complex geometries and the development of new designs due to its excellent flow properties. The elegant deep black surfaces of the PREH operating element show the great advantages of this special compound.
The material is currently in regular use for the control unit in the centre console of a premium segment SUV. It can be customised for similar applications at any time.
With the kind support of PREH, SITRAPLAS will be showing interested visitors an exhibit of this control element at its own trade fair stand (Hall B4 Stand B4-4501) at FAKUMA 2021 from 12 to 16 October 2021 in Friedrichshafen.
