Equipment

The SITRAPLAS Technical Center is equipped with a wide range of machinery for the development and testing of plastic compounds.
The following equipment is used:

three twin-screw extruders
a single-screw extruder for filament production
Various pelletizing systems (wet cutting, dry cutting, underwater pelletizing)

All pelletizing processes can be combined with the extruders in a modular fashion.

The compounding lines can be flexibly expanded, including through:

Dosing units
Liquid dosing
Side degassing
up to three side feeds

The ability to scale up from the laboratory scale to mass production is in place. Process data is recorded digitally and is available for analysis and optimization.

Product and process development

At its technical center, SITRAPLAS develops plastic compounds and processes tailored to a variety of industrial requirements.
Support is provided as early as the initial project phases for:

Selection of suitable materials
Definition of Process Parameters
Tuning of polymer and additive systems

The goal is to achieve an application-specific combination of material properties with regard to:

Design
Functionality
Workability

Sample plates and materials are provided for evaluation and validation.

From Development to Production

The transition from prototype development to mass production is coordinated between the development and sales departments.
Designated contacts oversee the entire process, from the initial prototyping stage through to the transition to production.

Special Services

SITRAPLAS supports customers and prospective clients with preliminary trials, process development, and test series in the field of compounding.
Key areas of focus include:

Development and testing of new methods
Conducting tests for product and process optimization
Evaluation under realistic, industrial conditions

The services include:

Planning and conducting experiments in the pilot plant
Evaluation and analysis of the results
Assistance with interpreting process and material data

The company’s expertise in formulation and process engineering is available for this purpose.
Comprehensive process data and material analyses provide a solid foundation for the development of industrially viable compounds and masterbatches.
In addition, we offer independent testing and analysis of plastics, for example, for the rapid evaluation of materials and applications.

These collaborations facilitate the continuous transfer of expertise among the participants and the development of new applications for industry.
